I am sitting in my backyard on a warm, Lammas Sunday (August 2nd). Lammas means First Harvest and I am signing my new poetry book: Soar Ready: Medicine Poems for a Changing World. The first printing arrived 4 days ago, the culmination of a 3-year project. First Harvest, indeed. The day is peaceful, the temperature comfortable, and Bonnie Raitt, Keb Mo and Leela James music is playing. I am signing my books in homage to the medicines that the poems carry, sending them off into the world to do their good magic, and share their gifts. I am sending my child into the world! Proud Mama!
